Sisterhood

Sisterhood: A Community of Women with Shared Vision and Values

The JCCH Sisterhood is a multi-generational organization of women, founded on the time-honored tradition of Tikkun Olam (“repairing the world”) and committed to supporting our synagogue, the broader community, and the State of Israel. Sisterhood offers connection and camaraderie through its many enriching programs and contributes to the physical beautification of the spiritual home of our congregation.

Each year begins with the creation of an annual Congregational Rosh Hashanah card. Sisterhood’s annual boutique raises necessary funds to help ensure our quality programming. In celebration of Purim, Sisterhood members create and distribute Shelach Manot baskets to the entire congregation. When the women take over the running of the morning services, Sisterhood Shabbat offers an opportunity for all members to get involved, in whatever capacity they feel comfortable.

The synagogue gift shop, also run by Sisterhood, offers such essentials as tallitot, seder plates, mezuzot, and other Judaica, and ensures that each of the B’nai Mitzvot receives a Tanach and basic ritual items that will come in handy as he/she continues on the religious journey.

Finally, Sisterhood organizes and supports well-attended programs year-round including museum tours, theatrical performances, and lectures. Sisterhood is a wonderful way to involve oneself in the synagogue, enriching the lives of others, and thus, one’s own.
